Doll's on My Bases

IBelle made the first doll on my base!  I am so honored!  She is so pretty in green!

Barbie Base

My First Base, Barbie!

That's right, I created a base!  I feel that it is time for me to do this and make some dolls that are completely my own.  It was tough and intimidating because there are so many beautiful bases out there.  But, I have never seen a Barbie-like base, and being that I am obsessed with Barbie--see some of my pictures here---I decided to "trace" a Barbie body--reference picture here.  I used Haich's skin palette and face tutorial.  I relied on Faery Ink's base tutorial big time as well as base references from Silindor, Haich, and DHF.  I think I done good.  Could she be better?  Yeah.  Is she as good as some of my favorite bases?  No.  But, she is all mine, and she doesn't suck!  So now to doll on her!  I am pretty proud of myself for this!!  YAY!

A note is that her proportions are supposed to be unrealistic---like a Barbie.  I wasn't going for realism.  I realize I have some things that could be fixed--but just keep that in mind---she is supposed to look like a Barbie!!

My First Base, Barbie--Redone!

I redid her!   With the help of my wonderful friends at my forums, especially Jazi, Spoon--My Sister, Lorain--and Tropicallili!  I adjusted the hips and boobs as well as the head.  Somehow the face didn't turn out as well, I think, in this redo, but I am much happier with her body.  I also used a different base palette--from DHF.  I decided to be spicy and add a tattoo and a beauty mark to the second base.  If you look at My Life in Pictures you will see that Barbie's tattoo matches mine!  Although, I traced the original Barbie base, there was really very little tracing involved in this base I used references from other bases--mentioned above and Barbie herself, but not a lot of tracing here.  I am damn proud of myself!

New Barbie Base Positions

I made a few new Barbie Base positions!

Vintage Barbie Base

Vintage Barbie Base

I also made a more authentic vintage Barbie Base.  Her body is the same, but I thinned out the arms, head, and feet.  I also redid her eyes with the stark blue eyeshadow the way the vintage Barbies are.  I also accentuated her lips and left off my signature tattoo---because vintage Barbie sure don't have those!  Skin palette by DHF.

Alyse

Alyse Base

This is my more realistically proportioned Alyse Base!  I used Haich's (site down) face and base tutorial. Skin palette by DHF.  I am basically happy with her!  I love my Barbie base, but I like Alyse because I can use her for less stylized poses.  I got a lot of shading and form help from Sephora and the ladies at Tre Chic.  Thanks!  She is a bit bigger than I originally wanted---but maybe I will make a smaller one too.

Small Bases

Heather Base

I wanted to make a small base, so here she is.  I love the oversized-heads, so I went all out.   Skin palette by DHF. I actually used Strawberry Shortcake as a head inspiration.  I like her!  I named her after my sister, who has an unusually gargantuan head!

Prissy Base

Prissy is the same body as above, only her arms are a bit slimmer and her head is more 'realistic'.  Skin palette by DHF.

Selena

My newest base!  I basically resized my Alyse size and traced her.  Skin palette by DHF.  I wanted a smaller base to work with because when I am as busy as I am I find working on smaller bases more manageable.  Her arms still look kind of stiff and her head could maybe be longer, but I am happy with her.  Yay me for base making!  Once I made my own base, I find it hard to doll on other's bases, because I feel like the work is less mine. Skin palette by DHF.  Now I just have to do leg positions!  I don't know why the skin tone uploaded as lighter on the last three poses...hmmm.

Base Terms

Okay, the terms.  Every doller has them and now I finally have a base to have terms for!!

The usual:

Don't cut and paste bits and pieces and claim them as your own and don't claim the base as your own.

Edits are welcome---arms, legs, face, ears, coloring, etc. Feel free to mix and match head--a few pixel adjustments might be needed, but that is fine. Don't create a whole new base from mine.  Don't put another base's head on Barbie!  Tag me with your site and I will post your edit here!  But, still give me credit.

Don't frankendoll, it is rude and bad karma.

Don't provide your edited version of my base on your website or redistribute my base on my your site!

Have fun with her--but provide credit to me if you use her!

You may use my base in layouts, dollmakers, contests, forums, etc, just--oh, you know!--give me credit!

You may use my base to earn forum currency--but not real currency.

Use common sense and manners!

Providing Credit Means A Clickable Link To This Website!!!

If you break any of these rules, you will turn into a centipede with only 50 legs.  Seriously!

When in doubt, tag me!
